Breaking Rules and Pushing Boundaries

In the article, "Creative Anarchy at Its Very Best" explains about rules and boundaries in Graphic Design.

There are certain rules in Graphic Design. There are rules, but nobody seems to know specifically what they are.

"We need rules to function as a society," says Denise Bosler, a Graphic Designer, Illustrator and Professor of Communication Design at Kutztown University.

I agree with Bosler that we need rules in our life. Except, how would we know if those rules are good or bad?

In life, we have to push through boundaries. In Graphic Design, there are boundaries, too. We just have to decide if we want to stay trapped inside or bust out of it.

I did have trouble understanding Bosler's writing because it seemed very random throughout. Especially, when she says that "knowing the rules are helpful when dealing with clients," but later on she says that "you can't break them if you don't know what they are." I kind of get it, but technically, nobody knows what the rules are.

In my opinion, it seems like Bosler is randomly switching back and fourth between rules and boundaries. But it's kind of hard to understand the definition and difference between rules and boundaries.

Overall, I would say it had a lot of information; just not quite sure how organized it was.
