Breaking Rules and Pushing Boundaries
In the article, "Creative Anarchy at Its Very Best" explains about rules and boundaries in Graphic Design.
There are certain rules in Graphic Design. There are rules, but nobody seems to know specifically what they are.
"We need rules to function as a society," says Denise Bosler, a Graphic Designer, Illustrator and Professor of Communication Design at Kutztown University.
I agree with Bosler that we need rules in our life. Except, how would we know if those rules are good or bad?
In life, we have to push through boundaries. In Graphic Design, there are boundaries, too. We just have to decide if we want to stay trapped inside or bust out of it.
I did have trouble understanding Bosler's writing because it seemed very random throughout. Especially, when she says that "knowing the rules are helpful when dealing with clients," but later on she says that "you can't break them if you don't know what they are." I kind of get it, but technically, nobody knows what the rules are.
In my opinion, it seems like Bosler is randomly switching back and fourth between rules and boundaries. But it's kind of hard to understand the definition and difference between rules and boundaries.
Overall, I would say it had a lot of information; just not quite sure how organized it was.

Floating Mountain: Ja'Crispy Land
This is Ja'Crispy Land, named after my nickname I got off of a tv show called Impractical Jokers, which I love!!!
First, I dowloaded the files for the Mountain and the sky. I followed along with the directions that came with it. It wasn't too hard figuring it out, except for adding in my own pictures inside of the picture.
I came up with a person skydiving off of the mountain and from the plane because I thought it would blend in well into the picture and I really would like to skydive.
My strengths throughout it were following along well with the directions and helping other people who were stuck with it along the way.
My weakness was trying to figure out how to put my plane and guy into the picture.
Overall, I liked this project! :D

Repeat Pattern and Motif
This is my repeat pattern. It took me a little bit to figure out and design, but I got it after that.
First, I opened up a new workspace on Adobe Illustrator and made my workspace 24in X 24in. I started using the shape tool and tried making different designs with them.
Then, I found the Rectangle Shape tool and made a square. I then made multiple squares from the center of the square to make it repeat inside of it.
After that I used the pattern panel and made a repeat pattern. I made them equal to each other/connected to each other by doing 6 in X 6 in. Once I got my pattern to the way I wanted it, I then made a copy of the pattern and saved it.
Finally, I went back to my original workspace and dragged a copy of the pattern into the workspace. I started making it all come together and fit inside the 24in X 24in, but I left a .25in space/border on the workspace so the pattern can fit.
My strength was using the pattern panel and creating a pattern.
My weakness would probably be trying to make it look good and fit the page well.
Overall, I liked being able to create my own pattern.
First, I opened Adobe Illustrator and made another 24in X 24in workspace. I then started making shapes and the came up with a funky tear drop shape.
Next, I rotated a copy of it to a 45 degree angle and then made multiple tear drops circle/ rotate around and make up to the first one.
After that, I used the Pathfinder panel and started exploring with it and then I finally ended up with the pattern/motif I liked.
My strength during this was learning more about the Pathfinder panel/tool.
My weaknesses were having to have a lot of help with it and knowing what to click next without messing it up.
Overall, I thought my Motif turned out pretty well.
Second Blog/Article Review
The article I chose to review about was a movie review about the new movie, The Walk. The author of this article is Carole Mallory.
In 1974, Phillippe Petit walked on a tightrope across the World Trade Center towers 110 stories high up. Joseph Gordon Levitt is the main character who plays Petit in the film. The Walk explains about the history of Petit's life and how he came up with the inspiration of tightrope walking. Throughout the time of Petit wanting to walk between the Twin Towers, he has to go through of not minding of breaking the law of art.
Throughout the film, it will keep the audience hooked onto the suspense and mystery behind it.
Mallory's opinion about the movie is that she recommends this movie to everyone, it is a "don't miss", and "it is a winner and an homage to the Twin Towers which shine until the very end".
The author's strengths throughout the article is the tone and words of describing the events of the film and history behind it.
Her weakness would probably be her argument because it doesn't seem like Mallory is trying to debate about the film, but to inform and persuade the reader about the film/history.
Overall, I thought the article was a very interesting and grasping article to read. I am definitely seeing The Walk.

Path Animation
This project was to be able to understand how to make and know what a Multiplane Animation is. I chose the Path because I thought it would be a little bit easier to try first.
First, I wrote down the many different famous places around the world for my theme, Around the World. I then found the many architectures around the world and cropped them each individually, which took awhile.
Next, I started to make the layout in Adobe Photoshop and did a day to night gradient for the background.
After that, I put all the layers together and imported them into Adobe After Effects and went from there. Once I got it all figured out, I rendered it and uploaded it to YouTube.
My strength during this project was the realistic features I gave the sky and grass.
My weakness would be trying to make it move in Adobe After Effects and I had trouble trying to slow it down.
Overall, I liked being able to put pictures into my animation and make it go "around the world".
